Date Night with the Family
Date Night (2010) Going to the cinema to see a Steve Carell film makes me expect a certain amount of comedy. Let’s face it, Date Night deliver’s on every level. From the beginning, an average family, to the end, still an average family, laughs flow as constantly as a waterfall. The only thing that let’s this film down was the very obvious marrital problems Fey and Carell experience half way through the film. A few questions and answers later it’s over. The audience dosn’t care about this, it’s not important at all. I agree that half of it should be there, the same old routine of a family, but the ‘have you ever thought of leaving me?’ questions get a tad boring after awhile. Wahlberg steps out of his more serious rolls of late to add even more comic relief to an already hilarious film. Some elements are briliantly done, including a boat scene and a dance off, to rival that of ‘Friends’, make Carell more than a shitty spy, or a virgin, more of a jack of all trades. James Franco and Mila Kunis play great parts, that are given hardly any screen time, and so does ALL of the other major players. Overall a five star cast (for the modern day) give a four star performance. Definatly make a date to see Date Night.
