High Fidelity review
High Fidelity (2000) - Really? Another Cusack film? Yes, and for very good reason too! High Fidelity is a film about one man’s love of (not only) women but music aswell. John Cusack plays Rob, a record store owner who is in the process of having a mini mid-life crisis. After being dumped by his last recent girlfriend, Laura, Cusack starts to believe he will die alone. This in turn, leads to many meetings of ex’s that he has loved and lost. What really makes this film worth the watch is the constant ‘top five’s’ that run throughout the whole film. It may be top 5 breaks ups, or top 5 death songs but this is constant, and breaks up the story which is nice. Jack Black is enough to boost this film into 5* status however, playing a employee at Rob’s record store. (What would a Jack Black film be without a little Black song?) There is enough music in this film to keep any music lover watching with intent, references come from everywhere, meaning that at least most of the bands you have heard. This is going to recieve my Top 5 right now, but it got me thinking, what are my Top 5 films? watch this space…..
