‘I GotThe Chance To Fall In Love All Over Again’
Shrek 4 (2010) - let’s cut to the chase, Shrek 3 was crap. From start to finish it was rubbish, with the only saving grace being the ogre babies. So I didn’t exactly count down the days till this new instalment came on the big screen. The story follows Shrek as he gets easily frustrated about his simple repetitive life, only to make a deal with (new character) Rumplestiltskin to live one more day as a single care free scary Ogre. However the deal has a clause and Shrek must embark on another adventure to get back home. The start is weak, which raised fears of another feeble film. However it picks up and gets alot better. The new characters introduced are funny and interesting, especially Cookie the Ogre cook. The animation is very nice and realistic, but it’s still very much a cartoon. Which is pleasing, I don’t want a fairytale to be too realistic. Some brilliant one liners follow, especially Donkey’s line to the gingerbread man: ‘what’s up cracker?’ So animation is good, story is good, characters are good. So what’s missing? Maybe the feeling that this is new. I’m glad that this is the last Shrek because I don’t think that it can go anywhere else. It’s just a bit repetitive, which is a shame. However, this is a nice film, not quite matching up to the highs of T.S.3 but not a flop by a far far (a)way. Shrek 3, forget about it, this is the new and improved Shrek 3. Sit back and enjoy, I did.
3/5 - not as good as Shrek 1 or even 2, but alot better than Shrek 3. But not bad.
